Everything you need to know about the group!

We regularly host new members evenings where you can come along, meet the group, and attend a rehearsal!

Please email membership to find out about the next event and any upcoming auditions.

Can i come meet you (1).png

There are no auditions to join our group. We encourage newcomers to meet us at a rehearsal, you can see our facilities and get to know us. If you want you can then get involved straight away with whichever production is in rehearsal; prompting, making props, costumes, painting/constructing or simply by making the tea!

For every show we hold open auditions which are advertised on this site, and we regularly cast newcomers.

You don’t have to be a member to audition. However, if you do get cast, you will then be asked to join as a member.

For more about auditions visit our auditions page.

Our rehearsal schedule is Tuesday evenings 8.15-10.15pm and Sunday afternoons 4pm-8pm at St. Anne’s Church Hall.

The rehearsal period for each show is approximately 12 weeks.

Being part of New Stagers is so much more than what happens on stage. It takes all sorts to put on a successful production and the critical people are often working behind the scenes.

So if you're not a fan of learning lines but still want to be involved, get in touch!

Benefits.png

In addition to having access to every stage of our productions, members also get free entry into all of our shows, monthly newsletters, invites to all social events, an opportunity to be part of New Stagers yearly new writing program and access to workshops and play read-throughs.

Plus, as part of the group you are invited to the AGM where you have a say in how the group is run and deciding on our yearly show schedule.

All our members are encouraged to take part as they wish in any area, regardless of experience. This means that, even if you’re not acting, you can still be involved in a production. Apart from the shows, there is a very good social scene, including fancy dress pub crawls, an annual dinner, biannual awards ceremony and regular trips to the pub after rehearsals. Many members join for the social side, and if you’ve recently moved to the area it’s a great way to get to know people.

Subs are £84 per year (contribution if unwaged), payable £7 monthly by standing order.

You start paying from the next due month after you join (unless you accept a role in a show immediately on joining – in this case, the monthly amount is payable before your first rehearsal).
