Exit Stage Left: Improv Workshop Series 2025!

Calling all aspiring improvisers enthusiasts! If you’ve never done improv before and have a chaotic spirit, then this might be the opportunity for you to unleash your creativity, and dive headfirst into the exhilarating world of improv!

Join Exit Stage Left for a one-of-a-kind workshop series designed for absolute beginners (so no experience necessary!) that promises laughs, surprises, and a chance to showcase your newfound skills in a live performance!

The workshops and show will be led by Sam Swaffield, who has, over the last three years, done a number of improv shows in London and is, by all accounts, “not great but not terrible” (his now ex-best friend) and “please stop bothering me with this” (his mother) at cobbling together a motley crew of likeminded Londoners with simply too much spare time.

The Schedule:

25th January 2025 | 12:00-14:00 Initial Workshop & Team Selection

Location: St Anne's Hall, St Ann's Crescent, SW18 2RS

Kick off the fun with a dynamic intro session, meet your fellow improvisers, and form a crack team of 8!

Weekly Workshops (Mandatory attendance – we’re building a dream team here!)

Location: Theatre Deli, 107 Leadenhall Street, EC3A 4AF (the nearest station is Liverpool Street/Aldgate)

This isn’t about rehearsing a traditional script. Expect the unexpected in these workshops with a number of exercises, games and scenes as we craft comedy gold and master the art of “yes, and…”!

The Show:

22nd March 2025 | 15:30-17:00 Venue: The Bedford, Balham (77 Bedford Hill, SW12 9HD)

Showtime! Bring your A-game, your wit, and a whole lot of energy as we take the stage for an unforgettable improv performance at a fantastic venue. This show will feature several short-form games, with your trusty improv leader on standby who’ll help lead the show!

Important Notes

Attendance of all workshops and performances is essential. This is a team effort, and we need YOU there! Given the upskilling required in a relatively short time, please ensure you can make all the dates/times before signing up! Consistent non-attendance may mean you can’t do the show, which would be a Greek tragedy level of shame and would mean Sam has to go on stage, boo!

Not your average theatre show. If you’re looking for the bog-standard theatre company play experience, this might not be for you! There are no lines to learn, no regular rehearsals or backstage shenanigans! There isn’t a backstage, as we’re on stage the entire time!

Actor’s Fee: If chosen for the team, you’ll be expected to take out membership at New Stagers for the time the workshops and shows are running, as well as a one-off fee of £30 to help cover the studio booking costs.
