Becca Duke wins NODA Best Actress Award

Updated: Jun 23, 2020

New Stagers are delighted to announce that Becca Duke has been honoured with a Sybil Conway Award for Best Actress at this year's National Operatic and Dramatic Association (NODA) Awards.

The award, which was presented at lasts week’s NODA Digital Festival, was presented for her performance as Laura Jesson in 'Still Life'.

On receiving the award, Becca said "So pleased to have won this award. I had such a great time rehearsing this play. The Still Life and fellow Tonight at 20.30 cast and crew were absolutely brilliant. Big thanks to them and of course to Alex for whipping us into shape!

Alex Piggins, who directed 'Still Life' said, 'Huge congratulations to Becca, thoroughly deserved after such a captivating and detailed performance. It was a pleasure to work with Becca and all the cast of 'Still Life'. With any luck, New Stagers will be back up and running (and winning more awards!) in no time!'

Becca is the latest in a long line of New Stagers to be recognised at the NODA Awards and her success has significantly raised the spirit of the group at a time when we are all longing to get back to the stage.

Chair Christina Ashton said, "we are delighted that Becca's performance has received the recognition it thoroughly deserves. This award stands as a testament to Becca and the entire cast of 'Still Life'."

The show, a classic love story, was performed by New Stagers in April 2019 as one of a trio of Nöel Coward plays from the 'Tonight at 8:30' collection.

We hope you will join us in sending congratulations to Becca and all those involved in 'Still Life'.
