Who let the Hounds out?

Meet the Cast of The Real Inspector Hound!

New Stagers is proud to present a production of Tom Stoppard's "The Real Inspector Hound," a hilarious whodunit with a twist! But before the curtain rises, let's get acquainted with the eccentric characters who will bring the story to life:

Lee Stewart - Moon

This is my first show with New Stagers and is my first return to acting in 10 years. I've been acting since I first I took Drama as a GCSE in school, going on to obtain a degree in Performing Arts. After completing my education, I performed in several productions in Bristol at the (sadly, no more) Little Black Box Theatre, including Johnny and the Dead, The Eight: Reindeer Monologues and Rent! Additionally I directed a production of Matilda Liar at the same theatre. Having retired my acting career for slightly less glamorous world of software engineering, it seemed like it was finally time to make a return to theatre, because it turns out that nothing else brings me quite same kind of joy!

I must confess, I had never heard of The Real Inspector Hound until I stumbled upon the casting call for this show, but after reading the play for the first time I just knew I had to play Moon. As a middle child, I kind of get where he's coming from! He's a delightful, and surprisingly nuanced character to play and I'm enjoying him immensely.

I'm very excited to experience the thrill of show week again, but above all else I've really enjoyed meeting and getting to know everybody involved. I think there's a sort of unique bond that you form while coming together to put on a show and it's really warming to have that in my life again.

Rebecca Lauder-Fletcher - Cynthia

Meet Rebecca, a new member of New Stagers and a seasoned theatre warrior! This is her first production with us, but don’t let that fool you—she’s got a dramatic history that would fill a library. Armed with a drama degree, she’s taken her talents all the way to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, where she dazzled audiences and probably lost a few wigs in the process.

Rebecca has played a colorful array of characters over the years, from the Wicked Witch of the West in *The Wizard of Oz* (complete with cackles) to Poopay in *Communicating Doors* (yes, you read that right). She’s also channeled her inner space cadet as Gloria in *Return to the Forbidden Planet* and tugged at heartstrings as Bobbie in *The Railway Children*.

Now, she’s absolutely buzzing to bring Lady Cynthia to life on stage. Cynthia is a character with a flair for drama, navigating the complexities of high society with wit and a touch of mischief. Rebecca is ready to embody her charm and grace—while keeping a straight face, of course!

Aarti Jalan - Felicity

This is my second show with New Stagers after having a whirlwind of fun in Scene Unseen and I’m soo excited to be a part of it! I’ve previously dabbled in amateur theatre pre/during medical school, take a couple shows up to fringe and written my own Bollywood-inspired love story! I’ve loved getting back into acting this year with this lovely group of people and I’m very excited to be playing Felicity in The Real Inspector Hound. I’m thoroughly enjoying being a part of this hilarious show and hope the audience find it as funny and ridiculous as we do!

Alice Collins - Mrs Drudge

I have been with New Stagers since 2018 and have turned my hand to everything - acting, production, direction, stage management. This is the first time I have acted in a main play since 2019.

Every rehearsal for Hound has me in stitches! It's such a funny script and there's so much to play with in the comedy and humour. Mrs Drudge is my dream role - a real character part that I get to be incredibly silly with. I can't wait to bamboozle our audiences with this complete ragbag of a production!
